British model, actress and singer Twiggy (Lesley Lawson) christened Emerald Waterways’ Emerald Sky in Amsterdam on 9 April 2014.

Twiggy – who gained prominence on the modelling scene in the 1960s – named the 182-passenger ship during the ceremony, which was presided over by Glen Moroney, Emerald Waterways’ founder and managing director.

Emerald Sky – and her sister ship Emerald Star, which will launch this year – features 20 staterooms and 72 suites, including the Emerald Panorama Balcony Suites, which incorporate an open-air system and an indoor balcony with chairs and a decking area. Two of the staterooms have been designed for solo occupancy.

In addition the vessel has two restaurants, an onboard hairdresser, massage therapy room, a fitness area and a heated swimming pool with a retractable roof, bar and gelati station. The pool area also transforms into a movie theatre in the evening.

All transfers, meals and beverages and shorex fares are included in the price of the cruise. Passengers can enjoy a range of inclusive shore excursions and additional EmeraldPlus excursions.

In 2014, Emerald Waterways will offer five itineraries including an eight-day ‘Danube Delights’ cruise from Nuremberg, Germany to Budapest, Hungary; an 11-day ‘Classic Prague and Danube Delights’ trip that adds three days to the ‘Danube Delights’ itinerary; and a 12-day ‘Magical Rhine and Moselle’ sailing from Basel, Switzerland to Amsterdam. The line will also offer a 15-day ‘Splendors of Europe’ cruise between Budapest and Amsterdam, as well as a 15-day ‘Christmas Markets of Europe’.

Emerald Waterways will officially launch as Scenic Tours Group’s new European river cruise line in autumn 2014.
