Tillberg Design of Sweden will design the first-, second- and third-class accommodation, smoking room, first class lounge, Café Parisian, grand staircase and safety deck features on Blue Star Line’s Titanic II.
“The whole concept of building a period replica is naturally to give an experience that is as close to the original as possible,” said Fredrik Johansson, partner and senior architect at Tillberg Design of Sweden. “The fact that Blue Star Line has chosen Tillberg Design of Sweden for the design of the Titanic II is beyond our wildest dreams and a first rate vote of confidence.”
Titanic II is a full-scale replica of the ill-fated Titanic, which sank in 1912. The 270-metre ship will have nine floors and 835 cabins, as well as gymnasiums, swimming pools, Turkish baths, a smoking room, libraries, a theatre, casino and a hospital.
Designed by Finnish company Deltamarin, the ship will be built at China’s state-owned CSC Jingling shipyard in Nanjing, Jiangsu province and is scheduled for delivery in 2016. The vessel will then embark on its maiden voyage, retracing the original route from Southampton, UK, to New York, US.
