Carnival Cruise Lines has partnered with Dr. Seuss Enterprises to provide the industry’s first Seuss at Sea programme onboard its 24 ‘Fun Ships’.
The line, which carries more than 700,000 kids onboard its fleet each year, will roll out the programme on Carnival Splendor in February 2014 and implement it across the full fleet by 2015.
“Our youth and family programming continues to be highly rated and extremely popular with the millions of families who sail with Carnival, but we’re constantly challenging ourselves to uncover unique and interesting ways to further enhance our guest experience,” said Mark Tamis, Carnival’s senior vice president of guest operations. “We are thrilled to bring the fun, whimsical and wonderful world of Dr Seuss to life for our guests of all ages to create even more fun and memorable moments during our cruise vacations.”
On the first sea-day of each cruise, children can enjoy ‘The Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast with the Cat in the Hat and Friends’ in the main dining room, eating foods featured in the Dr. Seuss books such as green eggs and ham, moose juice, goose juice and more. Waiters will be dressed in Dr. Seuss-inspired uniforms, while popular Dr. Seuss characters including Thing One and Thing Two will join guests at their tables and provide photo opportunities throughout the cruise.
Each ship will have a selection of classic Dr. Seuss books, toys and themed activities, while movies such as The Cat in the Hat and Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas will be shown on the screen in the Seaside Theater on the Lido Deck. Passengers can also participate in Seuss-a-palooza Story Time, A Rhyming Good Time, an interactive reading event, as well as the Seuss-a-palooza Character Parade.
Following a major refurbishment in May 2014, Carnival Freedom will feature the Dr. Seuss Bookville facility, enabling families to participate in craft and games inspired by the books. The facility will also be installed on Carnival Vista when she debuts in early 2016.
