Holland America Line’s (HAL) Eurodam has achieved full marks during a recent routine United States Public Health (USPH) inspection conducted by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The USPH inspection took place on 22 October while the ship called at the US port of Boston, Massachusetts. This marks the seventh consecutive time the ship has scored 100 marks.

“To earn a score of 100 on any given public health inspection is fantastic, but to earn seven consecutive perfect scores is beyond extraordinary,” said Richard Meadows, HAL’s executive vice president of sales, marketing and guest programmes. “The perfect scores reflect the dedication by all involved and congratulations go out to all of the hard-working team members both onboard and ashore who contributed to this incredible achievement.”

Earlier this year, Westerdam and Statendam also earned scores of 100 in USPH assessments, while Eurodam and Zaandam achieved full marks during 2013 inspections.

CDC inspections are part of the Vessel Sanitation Program, which was introduced in the early 1970s and is required for all passenger ships that call at a US port. Conducted twice a year, the unannounced public health inspections and evaluate ships according to a number of categories including adherence to hygienic food handling, preparation and storage procedures; overall galley cleanliness; and the quality of the ship’s potable water supplies, shipboard personnel and the ship as a whole. Scores can range from 0 to 100.
