Heraklion welcomed almost 5,500 cruise passengers when two cruise ships made their maiden calls at the port on 18 and 19 May.
Guests from Princess Cruises’ Emerald Princess and P&O Cruises’ Oriana were welcomed into the port by Heraklion Municipality’s 25-strong instrumental band, which played music from popular films and musicals.
John Bras, president and CEO of the Port of Heraklion, also exchanged commemorative plaques and gifts with each ship’s captain.
Heraklion previously handled a maiden call from Asian operator Nippon Yusen Kaisha’s Asuka II on 30 April.
