New ferry for Fullers Group

Incat Crowther has been contracted to design a 34 m catamaran ferry for Auckland operator Fullers Group.

Currently under construction at the Q-West yard in New Zealand, the 338-passenger will be maneuvered by a bow thruster and powered by two Cummins QSK 38 main engines, each producing 1,044 kilowatts at 1,800 revolutions per minute. The foredeck will be configured to carry palletised cargo with a Palfinger deck crane, while a dry exhaust system will reduce fumes and noise in passenger areas.

The vessel also features indoor and covered outdoor seating, kiosk facilities, luggage and bicycle racks. Passengers can board through large side gates on both decks using hinged articulated ramps, which connect to the existing shore-based infrastructure to offer a fast turnaround time.
