Thomson Cruises has sold Island Escape to Cruise Holdings Inc.

Columbia Cruise Services’ (CCS), which was initially contracted to provide the 1,760-passenger vessel’s technical management services by Thomson in 2009, will continue to manage operations once she has transferred to Cruise Holdings Inc's fleet.

Built in 1981 by Dubigeon Normandie in France, the vessel originally sailed in the Island Cruises fleet and is currently on her way to a shipyard in Brest, France, where she will be renamed Ocean Gala.

“We are very happy to keep the vessel under CCS management,” said Olaf Groeger, director of CCS. “Island Escape, now Ocean Gala, is a well maintained and solid cruise vessel. We are keen to continue managing the vessel and are very excited to work together and look forward to a splendid future with Cruise Holdings.”
