UK-based interior refit firm Trimline has simultaneously refurbished two passenger ferries, Côte des Flandres and Côte des Dunes, which are set to join the DFDS Seaways fleet this month.
Drawing on a 2015 project where it concurrently refitted two ferries for Australian operator Spirit of Tasmania, Trimline co-ordinated the installation of 5500sqm of Amtico flooring, 4,500sqm of carpet and 1,000sqm of tiling. The team also fitted 21,300m of electrical and data cables, around 2,470 chairs and sofas, and 790 dining and coffee tables.
“We needed a trusted partner who would be able to create a high quality interior for our ships on a tight timeframe,” said Neil Doorley, onboard commercial director for DFDS Seaways. “I have been extremely impressed with both the professionalism and the high quality output from the Trimline team.”
Trimline also enlisted the services of UK company SMC Design to ensure it could offer a full design and build package to DFDS Seaways.
“The design for these ships has been a very quick turnaround for everyone involved, and it has been incredible to accomplish such transforming work together with Trimline,” said Alan Stewart, design associate at SMC Design.
Côte des Flandres and Côte des Dunes will operate on the route between Dover, England and Calais, France from February. This will increase DFDS Seaways’ Dover-Frances fleet to six vessels, enabling it to offer a total of 54 daily sailings between the UK port and the French ports of Dunkirk and Calais.
