Dover Ferry Port, located in the UK, handled 2.3 million tourists this summer.
Known as Europe’s leading ferry port, Dover welcomed 2.5% more passengers in the 2014 summer season services compared to last year.
To celebrate the last day of a successful summer, the port’s chief Executive Tim Waggott presented a bottle of Champagne to David and Jenny Young and their two children while they were waiting to board P&O Ferries’ Pride of Kent on the Dover-Calais route.
“This has been a really strong summer for the Port of Dover’s ferry operations,” said Tim Waggott. “We are seeing significant growth in the number of passengers using the ferry terminal and this year’s figures are even more satisfying as we continue the revitalisation of the port. Ferries from Dover have been creating the perfect start to family vacations in Europe for generations and it’s great to see that they still are.”
The Port of Dover is also the UK’s second busiest cruise port and welcomes more than 140 cruise calls per year.
