Mediterranean port association MedCruise is investing in enhancements to its digital platforms, introducing new features aimed at improving user experience and providing up-to-date information from its members from June 2024.

The geolocation of each member will be available on the association’s website, providing more precise and accurate information for users. This will enable the creation of more detailed maps and infographics reflecting data and information from surveys, new initiatives or recently created activities.

Information on crew facilities and services available at MedCrusie ports, sourced from a survey led by MedCruise’s vice president Lorenzo Vera, and a sustainability and environmental survey conducted by the members of the board of directors will be among the data presented on the website. Users will be able to search the data using customisable filters, allowing them to access relevant information to inform their decision-making.

Members will also be able to directly manage and update their profiles on the website, allowing them to ensure the accuracy of the information presented and promote their engagement in the MedCruise community. A new section will be added to the website dedicated to career opportunities from both cruise lines and ports, while a categorisation system will be introduced to distinguish between four different categories of associate members: tourism board, port agent, receptive agent or cruise industry related association or company.

MedCruise has also worked with SaMMYacht on a project to create a digital platform to automate the annual reporting, modelling and visualisation of cruise traffic data across the MedCruise port network. This new platform, which will be available on the MedCruise website from June 2024, will also incorporate dynamic graphics and historical data collected over the last 10 years, allowing members to compare the available data.

Finally, MedCruise will launch a new social media account on Threads, Meta’s text-based social media platform, in June 2024, with the goal of improving the association’s visibility and providing a dedicated space for discussions and updates.

“While we are approaching to the end of the 2021-2024 mandate, I am extremely happy to see that our vision and targets have been reached and will be reflected to the whole industry in a user-friendly and accessible manner with our enhanced MedCruise website,” said Figen Ayan, president of MedCruise. “This could not have been possible without the constant efforts of the secretariat, board of directors and stakeholders involved.”
