Choice is about possibilities, and in design, choice starts with colour. Colour has the power to communicate a message, evoke emotions, create associations and affect the mood of an interior space onboard a passenger ship.
Forbo Flooring Systems is helping its customers to create unique marine interiors for cruise ships, ferries and more, whilst also ensuring high quality, durability and aesthetic appeal, with its Flotex Vision FR floor covering.
Flotex Vision FR is a unique, textile flocked floor covering that is designed to combine the hygienic qualities and durability of a resilient flooring product with the comfort, slip resistance and acoustic properties usually associated with textiles.
Customers can choose from a pre-existing library of designs with more than 600 references and the flooring can also be custom-designed to meet their unique visions and interior design requirements. For example, designs can be recoloured to match physical samples, as well as the full spectrum of RAL, Natural Colour System or Pantone colours.
Furthermore, because Flotex Vision FR is a high-density textile, we can use our high-definition printing technology to print all types of high-resolution designs, from vibrant colourways to wood effects, allowing customers to create flooring that perfectly matches their vision.
Forbo also has a team of experienced designers that can help at any stage in the design process. They can help customers with ideas, recolouring Forbo’s existing designs or developing a complete custom design that integrates perfectly with the interior design of the vessel.
Flotex Vision FR can be thoroughly wet cleaned making it suitable for public spaces onboard ships
In addition to its customisability, Flotex Vision FR is suitable for use onboard cruise ships and other types of vessels because it is a lightweight solution with a velour-like surface that is comfortable and warm underfoot but can also be easily cleaned and maintained.
The flooring has a dense surface pile, upright nylon fibres and an impermeable PVC backing, meaning that it can be thoroughly wet cleaned down to its base. This means both water-soluble and grease stains can be removed easily with standard cleaning equipment, saving costs and reducing the need to use as many chemical products. It is also designed to be quick drying, so that ship spaces can be maintained with minimal guest disruption.
There are additional benefits for passengers too. Flotex Vision FR was awarded the Allergy UK Seal of Approval, meaning it has been proven to reduce allergens and improve indoor air quality.
In addition to Flotex Vision FR, Forbo also offers Coral Marine FR, a collection of functional textile entrance systems. The floorings are designed to prevent dirt and moisture from outside being tracked into the vessel. This helps to reduce wear and tear on interior floor coverings and decrease slip hazards.
Coral Marine FR is also colour customisable. Inset logos can be incorporated into the entrance flooring so that every guest who enters the ship will be immediately greeted by recognisable statement branding. There are eight colourways that are stocked for quick delivery.
At Forbo, we understand the importance of helping shipowners to create customised interior design solutions for their cruise ships, ferries, river boats and other marine vessels. With both Flotex Vision FR and Coral Marine FR, we aim to provide our customers with hardwearing, practical, high-performance and cost-effective flooring products, while giving them unparalleled creative freedom to bring their design visions to life.
