Regent Seven Seas and Fincantieri have held a keel laying ceremony for Seven Seas Prestige at the shipbuilder‘s yard in Marghera, Italy.
The keel laying ceremony marks the placing of the first block of the ship in its drydock, which is the formal start of the vessel‘s construction. Three coins were welded to the hull of the ship during the event as part of a maritime tradition for good luck.
The ceremony was attended by Harry Sommer, President and CEO of Regent‘s parent company Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, Jason Montague, chief luxury officer for Regent Seven Seas and Daniele Fanara, senior vice president of new building and after sales at Fincantieri, among others.
