Halifax Port Authority (HPA) in Nova Scotia closed its 2015 season on 2 November after welcoming 141 cruise ship calls and 222,309 passengers.

Highlights of the 2015 season, which opened on 27 April, included a passenger high on 16 October, when the port hosted around 10,000 guests. Also this year, cruise ships made 17 shore power connections in Halifax.

“This was a good, steady season for cruise in Halifax,” said Cathy McGrail, director of Cruise Development and Corporate Affairs at HPA. “The Halifax Port Authority would like to recognise the outstanding cooperation between all the various partner agencies, including cruise vendors, tour operators and those in the tourism and hospitality industry who came together to provide cruise guests with an exceptional experience during their time in Nova Scotia.”

A recent economic impact study found that the cruise industry in Halifax contributes around CAD$104 million for the local economy.
