Chantiers de l’Atlantique has cut the first steel plate for Royal Caribbean International’s fifth Oasis-class cruise ship at its machining workshop in Saint-Nazaire, France.
Scheduled for delivery in 2021, the newbuild will be the third Oasis-class ship to be built at the French shipyard. While operating as STX France, the team constructed Symphony of the Seas, which was delivered in autumn 2018, and Harmony of the Seas, which was completed in 2016. Royal Caribbean has also ordered a sixth Oasis-class cruise ship from Chantiers de l'Atlantique, which will be completed by autumn 2023.
The first two Oasis ships – Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas – were built by Meyer Turku in Turku, Finland and launched in 2009 and 2010 respectively.
