The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) has announced that the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park (CBRTPP) will reopen for cruise vessels with fully vaccinated passengers and crew in June 2021.
The port will implement testing, pre-screening and embarkation measures to prevent outbreaks of Covid-19. BVIPA and CBRTPP will also work with the Ministry of Health and Social Development, the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board, local cruise agents and cruise lines to ensure the return to sailing remains safe.
“The health and safety of the cruise guests, crew and our local community is our top priority, and we will be working very closely with all partners to ensure for a safe resumption of this sector,” said Vance Lewis, CEO of CBRTPP.
One of the first expected calls to the port will be Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Millennium, which will resume sailing from St. Maarten in June.
“We are so excited to be part of this new regional itinerary and, while the cruise experience will be different than it was pre-pandemic, we are committed to providing our cruise partners and their guests a safe and enjoyable cruise stop,” said Oleanvine Maynard, acting managing director of BVIPA.
