Spain’s Port of A Coruña is set to host a record-breaking 150 cruise ships in 2022.
The port has seen a “substantial” increase in cruise traffic over the past decade and previously hit a record high of 120 calls in 2017. This year, the busiest months are set to be April and May, when the port expects to welcome a total of 40 cruise ship visits, including four triple calls.
One of the highlights of the 2022 season to date was the inaugural call from Virgin Voyages’ new Valiant Lady, which moored at the port’s Transatlantic Quay on 23 March. The vessel will return again on 4 May.
“These forecasts are a source of immense satisfaction for the city, in addition to the estimated economic return of €15 million, especially in sectors related to tourism, catering and the retail trade,” said Martín Fernández Prado, president of Port of A Coruña.
