ADELTE Ports & Maritime has designed, manufactured and installed a Hydra-model seaport passenger boarding bridge (SPPB) on the Adosado Quay at Barcelona’s cruise port.
The new custom-designed SPBB includes cutting-edge technology patented by ADELTE to ensure optimum operating efficiency, as well as the comfort and safety of passengers, particularly those with limited mobility. It has also been adapted to connect to new-generation cruise ships with overhanging lifeboats.
ADELTE installed the SPBB before Royal Caribbean International’s Allure of the Seas began her summer homeporting contract in the city this May. The ship, which will be based in Barcelona until October, will offer Mediterranean cruises calling at Palma de Mallorca in Spain; Marseilles in France; and La Spezia, Civitavecchia and Naples in Italy.
Barcelona, which now has eight ADELTE SPBBs,
“We are very proud to have been involved in this project and to have a long and successful working relationship with a leading cruise terminal operator such as Creuers del Port de Barcelona,” said Jordi Floreta, vice president and commercial director at ADELTE.
Last year, ADELTE has also designed, manufactured or installed SPBBs for cruise and ferry terminals in Busan, South Korea; Denia, Spain; Hamburg, Germany; Leixoes, Portugal; Rotterdam, Netherlands; Savona, Italy; Singapore; Stornoway and Ullapool; Scotland; and Swinoujscie, near Poland.
