AIDA Cruises has revealed initial design details of its two new-generation cruise ships, which are set to debut in 2015 and 2016, following construction at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries shipyard in Japan.

The cruise ships will feature an array of luxury facilities and onboard amenities, as well as 16 different cabin options and a variety of 50sqm suites with two bathrooms, a walk-in closet and an 82sqm sun deck. All of the vessels’ cabins will offer cruise guests additional space.

Passengers opting for the Panorama cabins will have a veranda with a sea view, as well as exclusive access to a ‘private island’ and the bar on the shaded patio deck. Alternatively, guests can stay in the spacious Lanai cabins, located on Lanai Deck 8, which features a conservatory with a large, sliding glass door opening onto a veranda.

AIDA’s new generation vessels will also feature Mitsubishi Air Lubrication System technology, which uses air bubbles to reduce the friction generated between the ship and the water, lowering the vessel’s fuel consumption.

The line has also announced its plans for the first ship’s inaugural voyage, which will take place from 22 March to 16 June 2015. The vessel’s 86-day maiden cruise from Japan to Germany features calls at 39 ports in 22 countries on three continents, including Dubai, Sicily, Spain, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam. The extended itinerary will enable the ship to remain in some ports for a few nights, offering passengers additional sightseeing opportunities in places such as Japan, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore.
