AIDA Cruises has launched AIDA Evolution, the most extensive fleet modernisation programme in the company’s history.
The first phase of the programme will be an overhaul of the Sphinx-class ships AIDAdiva, AIDAbella and AIDAluna in 2025 and 2026. All staterooms will be completely re-decorated, and the number of suites will be increased.

Exclusive areas and services for suite guests will be created for the first time on the Sphinx class ships. A variety of restaurants, signature bars and services will be added to the ships, while the Theatrium will be upgraded with new seating and an updated colour concept. New activity areas for families with children will also be introduced.

Technical equipment and systems will be updated on the ships, including measures to reduce fuel consumption, increase energy efficiency and conserve resources. AIDA Cruises has set a goal to reduce its carbon intensity by 20 per cent by 2026 compared with 2019.
"As the market leader and pioneer in the industry, we are committed to constantly rethinking cruising,” said Felix Eichhorn, president of AIDA Cruises. “The ships of the Sphinx series have written cruise history with their innovative space concept and colourful design. The AIDA Evolution program will further develop these fantastic ships.”
AIDAdiva will be the first ship to be modernised during its six-week dry dock overhaul in spring 2025. AIDAbella and AIDAluna will follow in autumn 2025 and spring 2026, respectively.
