AIDA Cruises’ AIDAnova, the world’s first fully LNG-powered cruise ship, is to offer a range of firsts for guests when she takes to the seas in December 2018.
AIDAnova will be the first AIDA ship to have three waterslides and will also introduce a collection of new bars, including the French Kiss Bar, Rossini Bar, Tokyo Bar or the South American-inspired Vinothek venue. The traditional Brauhaus microbrewery will now feature a spacious beer garden with ocean views. Other firsts will include the Body & Soul Organic Spa, two private outdoor sun islands and an outdoor sport area with endurance equipment and training areas for morning yoga, pilates and many other activities.
Among the 17 onboard restaurants, new venues will include the Time Machine restaurant, the Street Food Strip, Ocean’s fish restaurant and the Teppanyaki Grill, while AIDA’s signature East Restaurant will be equipped with a tandoori oven for the first time.
New entertainment options will include Studio X, which is the first TV studio at sea where game shows, comedy and cookery shows are produced and broadcast in front of up to 500 guests. Guests can also listen to live music or participate in karaoke and quizzes in the new Rock Box Bar, or take cocktail and dance workshops in The Cube bar.
Guests can choose from 20 different types of stateroom, including the new two-deck Penthouse Suite with a private sundeck, Junior Suites and single staterooms. For the first time, families can benefit from extra space in the Veranda Staterooms Deluxe, which are spread across four decks and accommodate up to five people.
AIDAnova will be powered entirely with LNG, which will reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by up to 80% and carbon dioxide emissions by a further 20%.
