AIDA Cruises’ new AIDAprima docked at her new homeport in Hamburg, Germany on 21 April.
Built at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries shipyard in Nagasaki, Japan, AIDAprima has been specially designed to ensure she can operate safely in winter, allowing her to be the first AIDA vessel to homeport year-round in Hamburg.
From 30 April, AIDAprima will begin regular seven-day roundtrips from the Cruise Center Steinwerder to Western European cities such as London, UK; Paris, France; Brussels, Belgium; and Amsterdam, Netherlands.
“We are pleased to welcome the AIDAprima in Hamburg and thank AIDA for its confidence in the destination of Hamburg,” said Sacha Rougier, managing director of Cruise Gate Hamburg (CGH). “We ensure together that the winter season will be a success – for AIDA, for CGH and for Hamburg. We are especially delighted that AIDA plans to use the supply of LNG and thus reduce emissions during the time spent in the port of Hamburg. The preparations for the LNG supply of AIDAprima at Hamburg Port are in full swing und well advanced."
AIDAprima will be christened by German actress Emma Schweiger during the Hamburg Port Authority’s 827th anniversary celebrations on 7 May 2016.
