Firms to supply exhaust cleaning system and engines on two ships
Alfa Laval joins with Man Diesel

Alfa Laval has been contracted by Man Diesel & Turbo to supply its PureSOx exhaust gas cleaning systems for two undisclosed cruise ships in 2013 and 2014.

The SEK55 million project includes the installation of four scrubbers, which will remove more than 98 per cent of the sulphur oxides from the ships’ exhaust gas.

Alfa Laval’s PureSOx systems will be combined with Man Diesel’s engines to enable the cruise vessels to use heavy fuel oil instead of expensive, low-sulphur fuel and still meet the International Maritime Organization’s increasingly stringent requirements in emission-controlled areas.

“This order proves the technical acceptance among the largest players in the marine industry for our Alfa Laval PureSOx system,” said Lars Renström, president and CEO of the Alfa Laval Group.
