Almaco Group has revealed that it designed, supplied and installed its Gallery Energy Management (GEM), Refrigeration Energy Management (REM) and precision air coolers onboard Norwegian Cruise Line’s first Breakaway-Plus class ship Norwegian Escape.

The vessel, which was built at Meyer Werft’s Papenburg yard in Germany and debuted in autumn 2015, was equipped with similar Almaco equipment to Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway. This includes Almaco’s catering equipment in the galleys, bars, buffets and provision stores, as well as the company’s refrigeration machinery.

The GEM system has enabled Norwegian to reduce the power consumption of the cooking equipment in the galleys, while the REM solution controls and monitors the refrigeration plants, provision stores and the galley refrigerators with one single system.

Norwegian Escape also features Almaco’s Precision Air Coolers, which ensures that a constant temperature is maintained throughout the provision store, further reducing energy consumption. The unit’s confined configuration also means that there is more space to store provision.

Almaco will work with Meyer Werft to provide similar equipment for Norwegian’s upcoming newbuilds, starting with Norwegian Bliss.
