German shipbuilder MV Werften has contracted Almaco Group to build the luxury suites and galley areas for Crystal River Cruises’ four Rhine Class river yachts, which will be delivered in 2017 and 2018 from its Wismar yard.

Almaco will fit 55 luxury suites onboard each of the four vessels and provide the visual turnkey delivery of the main galley and pantries. Work will start in December 2016 and will continue until the second quarter of 2018.

Although Almaco previously refurbished the crew accommodation and catering areas onboard Crystal River Cruises’ first vessel, Crystal Mozart, earlier this year, this will be the first time the company has completed new construction project for the river cruise market.

“Almaco’s expertise in new cabin and galley construction in both the cruise ship and offshore industries allows for great flexibility and adaptation to the standards of the river cruise market,” said Vilhelm Roberts, CEO of Almaco Group. “Our extensive experience with luxury accommodations and catering areas positions Almaco well to satisfy the demanding taste and expectations of the high-end customer Crystal River Cruises will cater to.”

Currently under construction at Wismar, the 135m Crystal Bach and Crystal Mahler will each offer cruises for up to 110 guests on the Rhine, Main, Moselle and Danube when they launch in Europe in June and August 2017 respectively. Crystal Debussy and Crystal Ravel will sail their maiden voyages in April and May 2018 respectively.
