Amadeus River Cruises’ newest ship, Amadeus Amara, will debut in July 2025 on the Danube River in Europe.

The three-deck ship will accommodate 164 guests in 70 cabins and 12 suites and will feature an “exceptionally” shallow draft for this category of ship – only 1.3 metres – to ensure it remains reliably operational as water levels fluctuate between the seasons.

With an efficient hull shape and shallow draft, a fuel-saving autopilot mode and solar panels on the sun deck, Amadeus Amara is the Austrian cruise line’s ‘most sustainable ship ever’. Additionally, the steering system automatically adjusts to currents, water levels, ship traffic, wind speeds and wave conditions, which maximises propulsion efficiency and reduces emissions. It also minimises onboard vibrations.

“Amadeus Amara is not only a technical masterpiece but also a true gem for our guests,” said Martina Lüftner, founder and managing director of Amadeus River Cruises. “The elegant interior design and indoor pool at the stern will be among the new comfort highlights. Twelve spacious suites feature walk-out balconies and cosy reading nooks, while the 70 standard cabins mostly offer drop-down panoramic windows and luxurious bathrooms.”
