AmaWaterways has revealed actress, producer and philanthropist Sharon Stone as the godmother of the AmaVida vessel. Stone will bless the ship during a traditional christening ceremony in Porto, Portugal on 22 March 2013.
“We are thrilled to have such an accomplished and acclaimed person as Sharon Stone as the AmaVida’s godmother,” said Kristin Karst, executive vice president and co-owner, AmaWaterways. “We are so inspired by Sharon’s extensive humanitarian efforts over the years. Her beauty and grace make her the perfect match for the AmaVida, one of the loveliest and most technologically advanced river cruise ships in operation today.”
The 106-passenger AmaVida is leased from Douro Azul, AmaWaterways’ Portuguese partner, and features 323sqft staterooms and suites, several dining venues, a sun deck, heated pool, massage and beauty salon, fitness centre and complimentary in-room internet access and video on demand. The vessel also has photovoltaic solar panels on the sun deck, generating energy for its operating systems and reducing its environmental impact.
The AmaVida will offer several exclusive itineraries in Portugal’s Douro River valley in 2013 and 2014, including the Portl Wine and Flamenco cruise, Enticing Douro, Impressions of France and Portugal, and Classic Port Wines and Charming Quintas cruises.
