River cruise operator AmaWaterways has expanded its Southeast Asia itinerary portfolio, adding new ‘cruise and land’ packages in Vietnam and Cambodia for 2018-2019.
The new packages enable guests to combine a seven-night cruise up or down the Mekong river onboard AmaDara with pre- and post-cruise land options.
Guests choosing to sail upstream will be able to opt for a 15-night package that begins with two nights in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City, followed by a seven-night river cruise, two nights in Siem Reap in Cambodia, and three nights in Hanoi and one night in Halong Bay, both in Vietnam. Alternatively, they can enjoy a 12-night package that features two nights in Ho Chi Minh City, a seven-night Mekong cruise, and three nights in Siem Reap.
As part of the ‘Riches of the Mekong – Downstream’ programme, guests will be able to choose a 15-night package with two nights in Hanoi, one night in Halong Bay, three nights in Siem Reap, a seven-night Mekong cruises, and two nights in Ho Chi Minh City. There’s also a 10-night package that starts with three nights in Siem Reap, followed by a seven-night cruise.

Shore excursion highlights will include a trip to a Buddhist monastery, a full-day exploration of the historical and ecological site of Xeo Quyt, and a workshop at a rice paper and candy factory in Cai Be. Guests will also have the opportunity to visit the Killing Fields and Genocide Museum in Phnom Penh followed by a trip to the Royal Palace.
