AmaWaterways is to christen its 19th river cruise ship, AmaKristina, in Lahnstein, Germany on 10 May 2017.
Named in honour of the line’s co-owner and executive vice president Kristin Karst, AmaKristina joins the fleet as the company celebrates its 15th anniversary.
Sister ship to AmaViola and AmaStella, the new vessel was built at Vahali Shipyard in Serbia and then transferred to the shipbuilder’s Netherlands-based facility for interior outfitting in May 2016. She embarked on her maiden voyage from the Netherlands on 1 April and concluded it in Basel, Switzerland on 8 April.
“The arrival of every new ship for AmaWaterways is incredibly special, but this ship notably represents 15 years of inspired design and innovation,” said Rudi Schreiner, president and co-owner of AmaWaterways. “Our guests will love the luxurious amenities and spaciousness and style of the public areas and staterooms as they experience Europe’s finest river cruise destinations.”
AmaKristina accommodates 158 guests and features connecting cabins and triple occupancy staterooms that are tailored specifically to the growing multigenerational family and group markets. All staterooms feature AmaWaterways’ signature twin-balconies (French and outside balconies).
Other public areas include a sun deck with a running track, a heated pool and swim-up bar, an elevator with enhanced access to the lower deck, an expanded fitness centre, a hair salon and spa, and three dining venues. One of these includes The Chef’s Table, a dining experience enabling guests to enjoy a complimentary multi-course tasting menu paired with hand-selected regional wines. Guests also have access to free wi-fi throughout the ship, an in-room Entertainment-On-Demand system and complimentary beer and wine with lunch and dinner.
In 2017, AmaKristina will sail various itineraries on the Rhine between Amsterdam and Basel. Highlights include a wine-themed cruise departing on 11 November and Christmas Market cruises starting on 25 November.
