AmaWaterways is to expand its Wellness Program to all of its river cruise ships in Europe (except for Portugal) and Southeast Asia in 2019.
Developed by sports scientist and AmaWaterways’ corporate wellness host Selina Wank, the Wellness Program will allow guests to set fitness goals and then join in onboard group fitness classes and additional signature classes such as yoga, pilates and circuit training. Guests will also be able to attend lectures and discussions about holistic wellness. In addition, AmaWaterways will offer guided biking, hiking and running tours onshore.
“Having the ability to exercise on the sundeck while cruising through the beautiful rivers of Europe and Asia is a very unique opportunity that not many people get to experience,” said Wank. “I am so proud to be part of this industry-leading programme and even more importantly, to share my passion for health and wellness with those who travel onboard our ships.”
The Wellness Program will be led by a dedicated Wellness Host on each ship.
The new AmaMagna, which will debut in 2019, will also have a Zen Wellness Studio to provide more space for group fitness classes, lectures and personal training sessions.
“The Wellness Program is very close to my heart, as I believe so strongly in the importance of integrating regular exercise and healthy eating into our day-to-day lives, and it shouldn’t have to stop while having fun on vacation,” said Kristin Karst, executive vice president and co-owner of AmaWaterways. “I have had the pleasure of working with Selina Wank over the past two years, where together we successfully piloted our first programme onboard AmaLyra in 2017. This year, we brought on six new wellness hosts, and we are all very much looking forward to the continued excitement as more travellers are able to experience our Wellness Program in 2019 and beyond.”
