Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Equinox opened the cruise season at Pointe Simon Cruise Terminal in Martinique on 4 September 2022.

The Caribbean port welcomed the 2,280 guests onboard the ship with traditional music and dance performances, locally sourced snacks such as ice cream and coconut water, and a souvenirs market. Passengers were also given easy access to ferries that took them to the nearby towns of Trois-Ilets and Case-Pilote.

Martinique Tourism Authority received a plaque from Celebrity Equinox’s captain Dimitrios Manetas to celebrate the occasion.

Celebrity Equinox’s visit also prompted Martinique Tourism Authority to reopen its Cruise Village for the first time in two years. The facility includes the new Martinique Insta Point, designed by Valorisation Martinique, where cruise passengers can take photos and share their location on social media.

“We could not be more pleased to welcome once again cruise passengers to our beautiful Island and especially cruise ships from North America,” said Bénédicte di Géronimo, commissioner of the Martinique Tourism Authority. “Those two years of patience have allowed the Martinique Tourism Authority and all the local partners involved in the cruise industry to reinvent ourselves and to offer the best experience to our visitors.”

Martinique is expecting a total of 205 calls this season, with cruise lines such as Costa Cruises, MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Seabourn, and many other brands visiting the island. The next cruise call is scheduled on 2 October at Pointe Simon Terminal, with the return of Celebrity Equinox.
