Atlas Ocean Voyages has chosen British Army captain, physiotherapist and Antarctic explorer Preet Kaur Chandi as godmother for its newest ship, World Voyager.

Chandi completed a solo expedition across Antarctica to the South Pole in 2022, before recording the longest-ever solo and unsupported one-way polar ski expedition in January 2023. She will christen World Voyager in a ceremony in Ushuaia, Argentina, on 8 November 2023 presided over by Atlas Ocean Voyages’ president and CEO James A. Rodriguez.

"We are honoured to have Preet Chandi as the godmother of World Voyager,” said Rodriguez. “Her incredible accomplishments in polar exploration align perfectly with our commitment to immersive and adventurous travel experiences. We look forward to welcoming select travel partners and members of the media to join us in celebrating this historic event.”

World Voyager will join Atlas’ two other vessels, World Traveller and World Navigator in sailing expeditions to Antarctica on nine- to 14-night roundtrip voyages from Ushuaia.
