Avalon Waterways has christened its fourth Suite Ship, Avalon Artistry II, during a canal-side ceremony in Middleburg, Netherlands.

The 64-stateroom river cruise vessel was officially named by travel industry professional Marilen Sandejas-Yaptangco.

“In Europe, the rivers are the pulse of the continent, carrying ships and their passengers on journeys of both work and pleasure,” said Sandejas-Yanptango. “May all who sail on these rivers in this beautiful vessel enjoy their voyage and take home the joy and friendship of a shared journey.”

Avalon Artistry II features two full decks of suites with wall-to-wall panoramic windows, as well as expanded fitness areas, a hair salon and a whirlpool on the Sky Deck. It also has a club, lounge, dining room and an open-air bistro.

“With two full decks of suites, nothing showcases the best of river cruising like our Suite Ships,” said Patrick Clark managing director of Avalon Waterways. “Each Suite has been thoughtfully designed to enhance the European cruise experience"

Avalon Expression, the line’s fifth Suite Ship, will be christened by author Patricia Schultz in May 2013.
