Australian TV personality Deborah Hutton christened Avalon Waterways’ Avalon Illumination in Vienna, Austria, on 3 June.

Launched on the Danube, the 83-stateroom Avalon Illumination is the line’s eighth Panorama Suite Ship and like her sister ships, features two full decks of Panorama suites with wall-to-wall panoramic windows that open to create ‘open air balconies’. The newbuild also features a hairdressers, a fitness room, a Club lounge, Panorama lounge, Observation Lounge and dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as a Sky Deck with a jacuzzi and Sky Bistro.

Earlier this year, Avalon introduced two more Suite Ships – Avalon Poetry II and Avalon Impression – which debuted in Holland. During the ceremony in March, World Champion and gold medal Olympian Katherine Grainger CBE christened Avalon Poetry II, while Avalon Impression was named by US travel industry expert Mara DelloPriscoli.

Next year, the line will introduce Avalon Tapestry II and Avalon Tranquility II, bringing its Suite Ship fleet up to a total of ten and its overall European fleet to 15 vessels.
