Avalon Waterways is to offer an Opera Cruise and an Author’s Cruise as part of its 13-day Blue Danube Discovery itineraries.
Departing on 15 July, Avalon’s first opera-themed cruise features four emerging stars from Canada’s Calgary Opera with nightly entertainment including opera-themed talks and performances by soprano Natalie Fannan, mezzo soprano Cassandra Warner, tenor Derek Johnson and bass-baritone Tyler Fitzgerald.
The author-themed cruise will be accompanied by Patricia Schultz, author of 1,000 Places to See Before you Die , who will speak about her career and the must-see destinations around the world. The cruise will depart on 9 August.
Avalon Waterways’ 13-day Blue Danube Discovery package includes a two-night city stay in Budapest, a seven-night cruise onboard Avalon Impression, as well as a three-night stay in Prague. Highlights include a visit to Vienna, Melk and Durnstein in Austria, and Regensburg in Bavaria, Germany. Guests also have the option to take a day trip to Salzburg, Austria, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Cesky Krumlov in the Czech Republic.
Other themed cruises are focused on golf, beer tasting, wellness, jazz and classical music, culinary, wine appreciation, arts and impressionist art, European history, Jewish heritage and Christmas markets.
