Avalon Waterways has revealed plans to renovate its fleet of European river cruise ships, with the cruise line set to update the style, equipment and connectivity of its Suite ships.

Between 2024 and 2026, Avalon will refresh every Suite Ship in Europe, with the exception of Avalon Algeria, Avalon View and Avalon Envision , which were already built in the style of the fleetwide update.

Changes will include a fresh décor in every public area, from flooring to furniture, including a new look and furniture for the Sky Deck and Observation Lounge. Fitness rooms will receive new Kinesis weight machines for resistance training, along with an expanded selection of free weights. Each ship will also be equipped with 15 new bikes and four new e-bikes. A second Starlink antenna will also be installed on the vessels to improve internet connectivity.

The renovation will take place in three phases. In 2024, Avalon Passion, Avalon Imagery II, Avalon Poetry II, Avalon Panorama and Avalon Vista will be updated. They will be followed by Avalon Artistry II, Avalon Impression, Avalon Illumination, Avalon Tapestry II and Avalon Tranquillity II in 2025, before Avalon Expression and Avalon Visionary are completed in 2026.

“At Avalon, we believe the perfectly designed river cruise starts with a perfectly designed ship, inviting guests to explore the world in comfort and style” said Pam Hoffee, president of Avalon Waterways. “With our fleet-wide refresh, we’re elevating details – from drapes on the widest-opening windows in river cruising and décor of our Panorama Lounges to fit-for-purpose fitness centres and fleet of new bikes – ensuring that our Suite Ships continue to set the standard for effortless, along the world’s waterways.”
