Baie-Comeau Cruises in Canada is to mark its tenth anniversary in 2016.

The port has hosted 43,891 guests and crew members during 43 calls from 13 different vessels from eight cruise lines since welcoming its first cruise ship – Fred. Olsen Cruise Line’s Black Watch – in 2006. In 2008, it joined the Cruise the Saint Lawrence Association as one of nine international ports of call in the St. Lawrence.

This year, the port expects to handle 11 calls and at least 8,866 cruise guests and crew, a 13% rise from 2015. Highlights of the season are expected to include the inaugural call of Phoenix Reisen’s Amadea and the simultaneous calls of Seabourn Cruise Line’s Seabourn Quest and Pearl Sea Cruises’ Pearl Mist on 15 September – the first time the port has hosted two ships simultaneously.

“In total, Baie-Comeau and its Manicouagan partners should welcome at least 52,757 cruise guests and crew members from around the world at the end of 2016, which is sure to benefit the region’s economy,” said Reina Savoie Jourdain, president of Baie-Comeau Cruises. “We are also delighted to have the opportunity to welcome a German Cruise Line again – that’s a new market for Baie-Comeau. We will be welcoming this cruise line for a second consecutive year. They had a great experience last year.”

Baie-Comeau Cruises will also work with Tourisme Québec and the local community to invest in improving the crew and passenger welcome area on the pier, the lounge area in the Cruise Pavilion, a boardwalk, a cruise pavilion and an observatory, and a new signalling project throughout the town.
