Baie-Comeau welcomed two cruise ships on 15 September, marking the first double call since 2006.

Both Seabourn Cruise Line’s Seabourn Quest and Pearl Sea Cruises' Pearl Mist brought a total of just over 1,000 passengers and crew to the Canadian port, and will return again later this autumn.

Although Baie-Comeau’s cruise season officially began on 25 May with a call from Pearl Mist – the first time a ship has called so early in the year – the port will welcome 10 calls over the next two months. These vessels will bring a total of more than 8,000 cruise passengers and crew members.

The biggest vessel to call this year will be Crystal Cruises’ 250m Crystal Serenity, which last visited in 2014 and will bring 1,090 passengers and 650 crew. German cruise line Phoenix Reisen will also return for the second consecutive year, this time with 594 guests and 292 crew members on Amadea.

“After the summer tourist season, the arrival this fall of 8,500 cruise passengers and crew members is a boon for Baie-Comeau and the Manicougan region,” said Reina Savoie Jourdain, CEO of Baie-Comeau Cruises. “We’re proud of the warm welcome cruise guests receive at our businesses and tourist attractions, and of how our workers pull out all of the stops to satisfy these international visitors. Thanks to these efforts, we welcome new cruise lines every year, and our reputation is growing.”
