BC Ferries has introduced 158 additional sailings on several routes between Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island in Canada to meet anticipated demand over the holiday season.

Between 18 December and 4 January 2015, the line will offer 112 sailings on the route between Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay, as well as 42 additional sailings between Horseshoe Bay and Departure Bay. Four additional voyages have been added between Duke Point and Tsawwassen.

In addition, from 21-29 December, schedules have been expanded on the routes between Horseshoe Bay and Deaprture Bay, Horseshoe Bay and Langdale, and Horshoe Bay and Bowen Island. This will allow the ferries to spend more time in dock, enabling them to maintain on-time performance during this peak period

BC Ferries expects that busiest period over the holiday season will be 26, 27 and 28 December. Meanwhile, sailing schedules for some routes have been reduced on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

“For diners looking for holiday favourites, we’ve got gingerbread cookies and Starbucks Christmas blend coffee on select vessels, as well as roast turkey with stuffing in the dinner buffet on the Tsawwassen – Swartz Bay route for a limited time,” said Corrine Storey, BC Ferries’ vice president of Customer Services.
