Canadian operator records 2.9% rise in passenger numbers, compared to the same period in 2014

BC Ferries carried 5.25 million passengers and 1.86 million vehicles between July and August 2015, an increase of 2.9% and 3.1% respectively over the same period in 2014.
The Canadian operator, which provided summer jobs for 500 seasonal employees, offered more than 29,500 sailings on its 34-strong fleet, which serves 24 routes in coastal British Columbia. Overall on-time performance was 88.1% in July and 87.3% in August.
“We want to thank the millions of customers who chose BC Ferries as part of their summer travel this year, whether it was a trip to Vancouver Island, the Southern Gulf Islands or Haida Gwaii,” said Corrine Storey, BC Ferries’ vice president of Customer Services. “We also want to recognise the excellent customer service provided by our staff during our peak season to meet the needs of all of our passengers.”
Customers also booked more than 1,900 travel packages with BC Ferries Vacations, a 20% rise from last summer, while 3,300 people visited the BC Ferries Vacations Centre and agents from the Customer Care team handled over 115,000 calls from customers making travel plans.
