Canadian ferry operator BC Ferries has partnered with Parks Canada to provide its annual Coastal Naturalists programme onboard its vessels.

Nine Coastal Naturalists will provide 20-minute presentations about various subjects including Parks Canada’s destinations, British Columbia’s unique wildlife and marine life, as well as coastal, nautical and cultural history. The Coastal Naturalist programme has been offered on BC Ferries' ships for the past eight years and more than 135,000 customers participated in the presentations last summer.

“More than one million customers have been entertained by this enlightening programme over the past eight years, which has become part of the travel experience with BC Ferries for many families travelling on their summer holidays,” said Corrine Storey, BC Ferries’ vice president of customer services.

The Coastal Naturalists will be onboard the Tsawwassen – Swartz Bay and Horseshoe Bay – Departure Bay routes on select sailings from 25 June to 1 September.

“Parks Canada is thrilled to join BC Ferries in telling the stories of our amazing places on the coast,” said Helen Davies, Parks Canada superintendent for Coastal BC. “We truly value the opportunity to connect BC Ferries customers with our parks and sites through this great collaboration.”

Parks Canada manages seven national parks, one national marine conservation area reserve and 13 national historic sites in British Columbia.
