BC Ferries has announced that Mike Corrigan, the firm’s current second-in-command, is to replace current CEO David Hahn at the beginning of next year.
The move, which is the result of heavy criticism sustained by Hahn for his reported C$1 million salary, is part of a wider programme of cost savings for the firm, which is aiming to cut C$11 million from its expenditures.
“I think Mr. Corrigan is completely up to the challenge,” said Donald Hayes, BC Ferries chairman. “There is no other candidate with the familiarity and in-depth understanding of the very complex ferry operation.”
Corrigan will take a salary of C$563,000 a year from 1 January 2012.
