Bolidt Synthetic Products & Systems has won the contract to supply Viking Ocean Cruises’ first-ever ocean-going vessels with decking and flooring.
The Dutch specialist’s relationship with Viking’s river-cruise business now sees it commissioned to install systems onboard upcoming newbuilds Viking Star and Viking Sky, with an option to supply two additional ships.
“Viking Cruises has a long tradition of working with Bolidt through our extensive longship river cruise programme,” said Viking Cruises VP of engineering Richard Goodwin. “Bolidt has shown a willingness to adapt to our requirements and has always provided a quality product. For this reason we are happy to continue this relationship on our new fleet of luxury cruise ships currently being built in Italy.”
Environmentally friendly Bolideck Future Teak will provide a slip-resistant and cost-effective alternative to traditional teak in Viking Star’s Wintergarden, as well as on all outdoor decks, balconies and terraces, said a Bolidt statement. The sportsdeck and jogging track will be covered with Bolideck Select Soft. Developed to reduce sound levels, as well as for easier maintenance and durability, Select Soft ensures a safe and comfortable surface even when barefoot, the flooring company said.
“Bolidt has delivered its decking solutions to some of the highest profile cruise ship operators in the industry and is extremely pleased to be selected to partner Viking as it extend its business into the ocean-cruise sector”, said Bolidt Maritime director Jacco van Overbeek.
Viking Star and Viking Sky are due for delivery in 2015 and 2016 respectively.
