Boreal Sjø’s new fast ferry, Jektøy, has started service on the route between Vestnes and Sekken in Norway.

Built by Norway-based company Brødrene, the 25-metre-long carbon fibre fast ferry was delivered on 23 February and can transport 147 passengers at a speed of 25 knots.

Jektøy was built using Brødrene’s semi-planning hull, which has already been used for more than 30 ferries, but features a new superstructure. This was developed in cooperation with Hareide Design.

The ferry is equipped with 2xMTU 8V2000 M72 engines, each supplying 720kW of power, as well as reduction gears and CPP propellers from Servogear and an evacuation system from Undertun.

Onboard facilities include a spacious salon with low noise levels and seats from West Mekan.
