The Columbus Cruise Center in Bremerhaven (CCCB) will complete the final outfitting stages of Norwegian Cruise Line’s newbuild Norwegian Breakaway, in March 2013.

“From Bremerhaven the open sea is easily reachable and all the safety provisions are excellent," said Peter Hackmann, spokesperson at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, which was responsible for building the 4,000-passenger vessel.

Breakaway will be fitted out with hotel equipment, bed linen, gym equipment and various art objects while docked at CCCB. The majority of the crew will also board the ship at the beginning of April, to undergo extensive training and prepare the vessel for its first passengers.

The 146,000-ton ship is scheduled for delivery on 25 April and will debut in Rotterdam, before arriving at her year-round homeport of New York in early May 2013. Breakaway is scheduled to sail from New York to destinations in Bermuda during the spring and summer months and will sail to the Bahamas and the Caribbean during the winter months.
