Croatian shipyard Brodosplit has signed two contracts to build and deliver prefabricated blocks for two mega cruise ships that are being constructed by Fincantieri at its yards in Italy.
Part of Brodosplit and Fincantieri’s long-term business and technical cooperation (from 2014-2025), the first contract will see the Croatian shipbuilder’s team constructing blocks of an undisclosed cruise ship, including the front part of the hull. Brodosplit will complete all steel, electrical and pipe work before loading the blocks onto a barge and towing them to Italy in the first half of 2019.
The second contract will involve Brodosplit building the central section of an unnamed cruise ship and delivering it to Fincantieri’s yard in the second half of 2019. Some of Brodosplit’s team will also temporarily work at Fincantieri’s shipyard to complete ‘special finishing work’ on both cruise vessels.
“The level of mutual trust between the Fincantieri and Brodosplit groups has been brought to such a level that we are already linking our software systems in order to make our collaboration faster and more efficient,” said Josip Jurišić, head of PR at Brodosplit.
