Canaveral to get new terminal

Commissioners have approved plans to build a new US$80-US$85 million cruise terminal complex and a 1,000-vehicle parking facility at Florida’s Port Canaveral.

The 185,000 sq ft terminal complex will be located in the Cove restaurant and retail area, and will have the capacity to handle 6,000-passenger vessels. A larger recreational boat ramp complex will be built to the west of Jetty Park at the channel’s entrance to accommodate the new terminal.

Construction is expected to begin in January, while the facility is scheduled to open in November 2014. Details regarding the terminal’s tenants will be released soon.
