Carnival Cruise Line has extended the length of time its ships spend in Cozumel, Mexico on more than 750 voyages to provide guests with exclusive shore excursions led by local tour operators.

In addition to almost 50 existing tours already available in Cozumel, Carnival’s ‘Cozumel Plus’ itineraries will allow guests to enjoy new excursions lasting up to eight hours in duration. These will include day-long tours to ancient Mayan ruins – such as Chichen Itza, one of the Seven Wonders of the World – and snorkelling in the Xel-Ha lagoons, which are connected by a series of bridges. Other excursions will enable guests to swim in open waters with whale sharks, or explore Mexico's famed ‘secret river’, which is formed of subterranean caverns connected by underground waterways.

“With magnificent beaches and interesting landmarks and historical sites, Cozumel is the Caribbean's premier cruising region and our 'Cozumel Plus' itineraries provide our guests with a seemingly endless variety of new ways to explore this fascinating destination," said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. "These new itineraries provide our guests with the opportunity to create wonderful vacation memories and our travel agent partners an exciting cruise option to market to their clients.”

Carnival’s ‘Cozumel Plus’ itineraries will be operated by 17 different Carnival ships offering more than 750 four- to eight-day cruises from six US homeports along the East Coast and Gulf of Mexico.
