Carnival Cruise Line’s new Carnival Panorama has successfully completed sea trials in the Adriatic Sea, five months ahead of her maiden cruise from Long Beach, California on 11 December.
Officers, technicians and engineers tested Carnival Panorama’s technical, mechanical and navigation systems during the trials. The ship has since returned to Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard in Italy to undergo the final stages of construction and outfitting.
“Carnival Panorama is a wonderful addition to the fleet, and she passed all of her manoeuvres and tests with flying colours,” said Carlo Queirolo, captain of Carnival Panorama. “We can’t wait to welcome guests aboard this beautiful ship.”
Designed as a sister to Carnival Vista and Carnival Horizon, the 133,500gt Carnival Panorama is the third of Carnival’s Vista-class ships. The vessel will offer various accommodation categories, including luxurious Cloud 9 Spa staterooms; tropics-inspired Havana staterooms, which offer access to an exclusive Cuban-themed bar and pool; and Family Harbor with larger staterooms and the Family Harbor Lounge.
Onboard innovations will include the first Sky Zone trampoline park at sea and a new ChooseFun WaterWorks aqua park inspired by the line’s chief fun officer and NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal. Guests will also be able to enjoy familiar Carnival Fun Ship 2.0 venues, such as Cloud 9 Spa, the Ocean Plaza indoor and outdoor dining and entertainment venue, and Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse Brewhouse, featuring dishes created by Food Network presenter and long-time Carnival partner Guy Fieri.
Carnival Panorama will be the first new Carnival ship to homeport on the US West Coast for 20 years when she begins her inaugural season this December. Following her three-day maiden voyage to Ensenada in Mexico, the ship will sail year-round ‘Mexican Riviera’ itineraries from Long Beach. Lasting seven days, the cruises take guests to destinations like Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas and Mazatlan.
