New packages will be available on all of the line's ships by the first quarter of 2016

Carnival Cruise Line has rolled out new social media and internet packages onboard more than half of its ships and will implement them fleetwide by the first quarter of 2016.
Now available on 13 ships, the enhanced internet access packages offer significantly increased bandwidth and speed and provides guests with unlimited access to media package provides unlimited access to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Pinterest and other popular sites for US$5 per day. Guests can also access discounted plans for the entire cruise.
Carnival will also offer a ‘value plan’ that includes unlimited web access to allow guests to check e-mail, sports scores, weather updates and various other applications. Meanwhile those selecting the ‘premium plan’ will be able to access the fastest available connection speed and video-calling websites such as Skype.
“Fast, affordable and reliable social media channels and the internet have become essential on today’s cruise ships,” said Gabriela Gonzalez, Carnival’s vice president of guest technology. “We have thoughtfully approached this area to ensure we are providing options that guests sailing throughout our fleet find truly valuable and reliable.”
Carnival also plans to roll out its new Carnival Hub mobile app to five ships by the end of 2015 and to the remainder of the fleet by summer 2016.
Currently available on Carnival Breeze, the free mobile app provides guests with information about the ship’s facilities, updates about onboard events, a chat feature and more. According to Carnival, it has been ‘well received’ by a third of the ship’s guests who have actively used it during their cruise.
