Carnival UK has contracted Southampton-based marine interior refit company Trimline to provide interior maintenance services onboard ten cruise ships in its P&O Cruises and Cunard fleets.
As part of the agreement, Trimline will maintain the ships’ interiors for up to three years, carrying out renovation and installation work at various global ports, or while the ships are in service. The vessels included in the contract are Cunard’s Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth, as well as P&O’s Ventura, Azura, Aurora, Oriana, Oceana, Arcadia and Adonia.
“The contract between Carnival UK and Trimline highlights a real shift in the way that the cruise industry is currently operating and the way Trimline has responded to its customer’s changing needs,” said Mike Oliver, sales and marketing director at Trimline. “Trimline’s ‘Different Approach’ means that a refit is no longer about simply completing a project on time, to budget and then walking away – Trimline is working hard to show that onboard refurbishment is about value for money and the cost of ownership, meaning that we look after our clients well beyond the completion date of the project.”
In May 2013, Trimline signed an agreement to maintain five Carnival UK ships, including Cunard’s Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth, as well as P&O Cruises’ Azura and Ventura.
“This agreement is the next natural progression for Trimline and Carnival UK cementing a business relationship stretching back more than 30 years,” said William Whitehouse, senior superintendent of facilities maintenance at Carnival. “Trimline has consistently demonstrated its expertise and commitment to maintaining interiors to the high standards our passengers expect.”
In addition, more than 280 of the company’s employees and sub-contractors will complete more than £4 million worth of renovation work on six other ships before the end of 2013. These ships include P&O’s Arcadia in Germany, Windstar Cruises’ Windstar in Portugal, Pullmantur’s Zenith, Royal Caribbean’s Vision of the Seas and Crystal Cruises’ Crystal Serenity in Spain and Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas while she is in service.
